Emma Zhou

Intern at Blair & Ramirez LLP

I learned about Blair & Ramirez LLP at the first LeGal Law Forum. I was hosting the event that night so I was mostly running around. During a break, I sat down at the nearest table and that was when I met Matt and Oscar. They were talking about how they first met in school and then started their own personal injury and employment law firm. Oscar then went on to talk about how he specializes in sexual harassment law, specially in the workplace. This was a topic that I was very interested in so I took a business card before I had to go back to my MC duties. A few months later as I was thinking about summer internships, I pulled out their business card and emailed them. I mentioned that I had met them at the alumni event in the fall and had a particular interest in their work and their firm. Minutes later, I received a response asking if I was free for a call. I had an informal interview with Matt over the phone, we discussed my availability, and the next thing I knew I was offered an internship position beginning the following week. At B&R, I was taught everything I could possibly learn. I began with simple tasks such as taking phone calls with clients to writing deposition summaries and submitting subpoenas by the end. I interned there for a year and gained incredible first-hand experience. I'm so thankful for this experience and for having Matt and Oscar, and everyone else at B&R, as mentors.
